Area Evacuated For 2-Alarm Gas Fire After Car Hits Building On W. San Carlos St.
The blaze was fully under control around 10 p.m. Tuesday. [Breaking]

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – A vehicle slammed into a building Tuesday night causing a two-alarm fire near downtown San Jose, according to a fire spokesman.
Fire Captain Michael VanElgort said a vehicle crashed into a music studio in the 1100 block of West San Carlos Street around 8:45 p.m. causing a gas meter to rupture and a fire to ignite.
Firefighters quickly evacuated the area and immediately shut off the gas in order to safely battle the blaze.

According to VanElgort the fire was knocked down around 9:30 p.m. and fully under control just before 10 p.m.
The building sustained minor fire damage to the roof and exterior components, however VanElgort said he suspected there would be water damage on the inside of the building.

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the crash is under investigation by San Jose police.
