Safety Element on Saratoga City Council Study Session Tonight

Government leaders to meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall's administrative conference room on Fruitvale Avenue to discuss General Plan Safety Element Update.

The Saratoga City Council meets tonight at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 to discuss its General Plan Safety Element Update at City Hall's administrative conference room, 13777 Fruitvale Ave.

In 2011, the city received a $175,000 grant from the state's 2008 Disaster Recovery Initiative to update the Safety Element.

“The Safety Element is a critical planning document for the city that identifies potential hazards within our community and establishes policies that prevent these hazards from becoming disasters or serious problems,” said Saratoga Mayor Jill Hunter in a press release.

“The last update to the Safety Element took place 25 years ago. As someone who has lived in Saratoga for more 31 years, I can tell you that a lot has changed since 1987. I’m pleased that the city is updating the Safety Element and that we were able to pay for the project using grant funds,” Hunter added.
