Is Saratoga Contaminating South Bay Drinking Water Supplies?

On a recent stroll through Wildwood Park, I became seriously disturbed when coming across a notice about regular pesticide sprayings.

On a recent stroll through Wildwood Park, I became seriously disturbed when coming across a notice which read that the City of Saratoga (in Silicon Valley, California) would be conducting regular pesticide sprayings of Monsanto's Roundup pesticide during the first seven days of each month.

The notice was signed by the County Health and Agricultural Departments, with hotlines provided [(800) 876-4766; (408) 885-4212; (408) 918-4600)] for people to call and possibly voice their concerns (even though it's after the fact of the spraying).

Even more disturbing is that the Santa Clara Valley Water District has its own sign depicting the Saratoga Creek as a part of our local drinking water system, which is flowing right beside this park. According to the Santa Clara Valley Water District, this creek flows to our watershed and feeds into part of our ground water supply. Glyphosale, an enzyme inhibitor found in RoundUp Pro Max, is a known carcinogen (International Agency for Research on Cancer Monograph Working Group, 2015) and has been linked to non-Hodgkin lymphoma (Leon, 2014), associated with using.

Sadly, this site would be great for a native and ecological restoration project. It angers me deeply to know that something which could be pulled out by human hands is instead being sprayed with toxic chemicals that could potentially contaminate our ground water.

The "pests to be controlled" is stated as "weed"

The signage explains our local watershed where the Saratoga Creek feeds part of our drinking water supply which is sold back to us mainly by the San Jose Water Company.
The beautiful Saratoga Creek rushes with water following weekend winter storms.
