The Saratoga High School boys basketball and wrestling teams were among teams recognized by the Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation.

The student athletes were among the recipients of the 2013 Winter Season Scholastic Championship Team Awards, the district announced on its website.

The awards, instituted by the CCS Board of Managers in 1985, recognize the top five varsity teams from each Central Coast Section sport.

Those with the highest collective grade-point-average of all teams competing in that sport during that season are highlighted, according to the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District.

"The student athletes involved have achieved distinction in the classroom and ... have committed themselves to participation in interscholastic athletics," the district added. "Their academic performance is yet another indication that such athletic participation enhances classroom activities."
