Fong praised Hunter’s leadership on the Saratoga City Council to fight for local control, so that state and Bay Area mandates take into account the city’s unique characteristics.
“Even though I am in the state legislature, I know that one size doesn’t fit all," Fong said in a press release.

Hunter is signing an upcoming appeal to request that the Association of Bay Area Governments, or ABAG, balances its mandate to build housing with Saratoga’s limited access to public transportation and the consequential effect on air pollution from more car trips.
Hunter is a 32-year resident of Saratoga. She has also been a PTA leader for 30 years and has given more than 20 years of public service, including 10 years on Saratoga Union School District, City of Saratoga Heritage Commission, Planning Commission and seven years on the Council.
She's also the chairwoman and founder of the Saratoga Village Development Council, Village Gardeners and the Heritage Tree Society of Saratoga.
Hunter received a certificate of recognition from the Legislature and will attend a recognition luncheon at noon Friday, March 15 at Pacific Catch restaurant in Campbell.
