Saratoga Non-profit Leader Honored as District 15 "Woman of the Year"

On Monday, March 20, College of Adaptive Arts co-founder and Executive Director DeAnna Pursai was honored as a “Woman of the Year” recipient for the Women Making Herstory campaign.

The California Legislative Women’s Caucus celebrated Women’s History Month with a Senate Floor ceremony to honor women throughout the state who have made significant contributions to their community.

Senator Dave Cortese (D-San Jose) selected Pursai as the District 15 honoree based on her longtime efforts to provide equitable collegiate education for adults with differing needs.

“Deanna has grown College of the Adaptive Arts from a 12-person class into a national collegiate model for people with special needs,” said Senator Cortese (D-San Jose). “She approaches her work with kindness and dynamism, and her steadfast dedication has improved countless lives across our region. We’re thrilled to honor Deanna as our 2023 Women Making Herstory Woman of the Year.”

College of Adaptive Arts, located on the West Valley College campus in Saratoga, is a 501 c3 non-profit organization providing lifelong collegiate education to adults with differing abilities. The college offers more than 65 classes in 10 different schools of instruction and serves more than 200 adults both in California, and virtually across eight other states.
