Editor's Note: The following press release was submitted to Saratoga Patch by the city. It's been edited for clarity and brevity.

Saratoga will begin accepting applications from local community event organizers who would like to receive grant funding to conduct city events in fiscal year 2013-14.

The city has budgeted $20,000 for the next fiscal year, which runs from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014, because it recognizes the value of community events and their role in bringing residents together, building community, and establishing an identity for the city.

“I fully support providing grant funding for local community event organizers who want to conduct an event in Saratoga,” said Saratoga Mayor Jill Hunter. “Community events are a great way for families to come together, enjoy the special assets of this beautiful city and build a strong sense of community from which we will all benefit.”

Grant funding may be used for event materials, supplies, contract services, permits, city-related fees, such as park rental or permit costs.
