Tarun Krishnan, Age 11

School: Fifth-Grader at Argonaut Elementary School in Saratoga

Accomplishments:

  • Plays competitive soccer with the West Valley soccer club
  • Enjoys music and has performed piano recitals both with his piano teacher's school as well as at his elementary school
  • Loves the outdoors and is an active skier, hiker, swimmer, camper and runner
  • Competed in his first triathlon at the age of 8
  • Completed first 10K race and finished fifth in his age bracket
  • Excellent recreational skier, skis black diamond runs since before he turned 8
  • Competed in the Destination Imagination creative challenge series
  • Member of team TAKe A GUesS
  • Performed "Mission: Dental Intervention" community service project working with dentists to arrange free teeth cleanings for people without insurance.
  • Team Take a Guess placed first in Silicon Valley Regional tournament
  • Team Take a Guess finished second in state tournament in San Diego
  • As part of Team Take a Guess, now preparing to go to global finals in Knoxville TN

Tarun enjoys the Destination Imagination challenges and contributed in many ways to his team's success including writing lyrics for a rap song and performing them, according to proud mom Rohini Krishnan.

"Tarun is an easy-going kid who makes friends very quickly. He is fascinated by creatures of all kinds, from spiders and salamanders to his current pets which include fish, hissing cockroaches, a hermit crab he's had for nearly three years and his family's cat," mom wrote in an email interview.
