The Saratoga Village Development Council announced Wednesday that it's now on Facebook!
Next ... Twitter, Instagram? Who knows, but Saratoga Mayor Jill Hunter, the business networking group's chairwoman, seems to be embracing social media to better assist its 500 members and the community.
"So many thanks to Pallavi Sharma, resident of Saratoga, who has volunteered her time to set up a wonderful Facebook page for the Village," Mayor Hunter said in her email blast. "It is residents like Pallavi who make our city so special. Take a look and take the time to like our new Facebook page!"

Nitin Shandilya, another Saratoga Resident, immediately liked the page and commented: “Good job on the page. Saratoga is a beautiful and historic town indeed.”
The eight-year-old networking group is dedicated to promoting the merchants of the historic downtown on Big Basin Way and in the Highway 9 area, and to building a sense of community among residents.

The group includes a “who’s who” of downtown’s 500 shopkeepers, restaurateurs and city residents. The SVDC meets regularly in cyberspace by way of an email listserver and holds planning meetings on the second and last Tuesday of each month.
SVDC serves only businesses in Saratoga Village.
The SVDC puts on eight events a year including a Pet Parade in April, a Heritage Day in September and an October “Witchy Walk-A-Bout.”
It's now planning a St. Paddy's Day celebration 3-5 p.m. on March 16.
The Irish-theme party has been organized in the Village for six years and features Irish dancers, bagpipes, magic green rocks hidden in the plants, pennies on the sidewalk, green cotton candy, a painting rock station, green nail polish, green everything given out by the shops, lots of games and fun, Hunter said.
