The Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot takes place today, Thursday, Nov. 22 at corner of Santa Clara and Market streets in downtown San Jose. Benefits Second Harvest Food Bank, The Housing Trust, and Children’s Health Initiative of Santa Clara County. 10K wheelchair begins at 7:45 a.m., 10K run at 7:50 a.m. and 5K run/walk at 8:30 a.m. Be at the starting line 30 to 40 minutes early. Remember that you need to have enough time to park and make it to the starting line with 25,000 other runners! No dogs, bikes, roller blades, scooters, skateboards allowed on the course. Shop local on Black Friday, Nov. 23 in historic Saratoga Village, along Big Basin Way, between Highway 9 and Sixth Street. Local businesses are having extended hours during the shopping season kick-off Nov. 23, as well as other perks. Wine tasting hours, which are normally 5-8 p.m., go until 9 p.m. Plumed Horse Restaurant, 14555 Big Basin Way; The Basin, 14471 Big Basin Way; and La Fondue, 14550 Big Basin Way No. 3 offer valet parking 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The City of Saratoga and the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce host the 11th annual holiday tree lighting and wine stroll at 5 p.m. Nov. 23. At 5:30 p.m., Saratoga Mayor Chuck Page and the Mustang Chorale from Marshall Lane Elementary School will officially kick off the event in Blaney Plaza with holiday songs and the ceremonial tree lighting. The wine stroll features 20 local wineries, including Cinnabar Winery, Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards, House Family Winery, The Mountain Winery, Charles Usher Winery, Ruthe Roberts Vintners Collective, Burrell School Vineyards and Winery, Guglielmo Winery, Coterie Cellars, Mica Cellars, Roudon-Smith, Martella and Michaud Wineries and Big Basin Vineyards. ANNIE MUSICAL COMEDY

The West Valley Light Opera Association presents the beloved family musical, "Annie," about a spunky orphan who beats the Depression-era blues with optimism, charm and a song in her heart, 8 p.m. through Dec. 8 at the Saratoga Civic Theatre, 13777 Fruitvale Ave. Tickets are $33 on opening night gala; $29-$31 general admission; $27-$29 seniors and students; $18 children under 12. FANTASY OF LIGHTS

The 14th annual Fantasy of Lights begins 6-10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 through Dec. 31 at Vasona Lake County Park, 333 Blossom Hill Rd. in Los Gatos. The event is a 1.5-mile drive-through of holiday lights and entertainment, which includes mostly animated, larger-than-life displays, and the special sounds of holiday music piped through car radios. $10 per vehicle (up to 9 guests) Friday, Nov. 23 through Thursday, Dec. 6 only; $15 per vehicle after Dec. 6; $25 per vehicle 10-25 guests (no discounts) and $50 commercial and school buses (no discounts).
