Sousa in the South Bay

San Jose Wind Symphony and guest conductor Keith Brion present "Sousa in the South Bay" featuring works by Glinka, Wagner, Sousa and others.

On Sunday, May 15, at 3:00pm, the San Jose Wind Symphony will present "Sousa in the South Bay,” an entire concert in the unique “Sousa style” -- an entertaining mix of classics, solos and Sousa's own operettas and suites – all liberally punctuated by rapid-fire encores featuring Sousa's own famous marches. The Wind Symphony's special guests are Keith Brion (guest conductor, portraying John Philip Sousa), Galen Lemmon (xylophone soloist), Thomas Hornig (trombone soloist) and Beth Delaney Miller (soprano soloist). Featured works include Glinka's Russlan and Ludmilla, a portion of Wagner's Lohengrin, selections from Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance and numerous Sousa marches, including Semper Fidelis and The U.S. Field Artillery. The concert will be at McAfee Center, 20300 Herriman Ave. in Saratoga. Tickets are $5 for students, $15 for seniors and $20 for general admission. For more information about the concert, please visit www.sjws.org or call 408-927-7597.
