Two Men Arrested in Saratoga For DUI, Assault With Deadly Weapon

Suspects are still in custody at the Santa Clara County Jail.

 

Two men were arrested in Saratoga last month on suspicion of several felony offenses, the most egregious being assault with deadly weapon and DUI.

Charles Simpson, 51, of San Jose, was taken into custody at 11:28 p.m. April 5 at 22801 Big Basin Way for misdemeanor annoying or molesting a child and felony assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $75,000.

The next day, Darryl Greenlea, 55, of Hayward, was arrested at 11:55 a.m. April 6 at McFarland and Devon avenues for misdemeanor having a suspended license, driving with privileges suspended or revoked and DUI. His bail was set at $80,000.

Simpson's occupation was listed as being unemployed and Greenlea's was listed as caretaker.

If found guilty of annoying or molesting a child under 18 years of age, Simpson could be punished by a fine not exceeding $5,000, by imprisonment in the Santa Clara County Jail not exceeding one year, or by both the fine and imprisonment, according to the penal code.

The felony assault charge could land Simpson in state prison for two, three, or four years, or in county jail for a minimum of one year, or by a fine not exceeding $10,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment, the penal code stated.

Greenlea, who faces three driving under the influence charges, including the DUI, faces between three and five years of court probation, fines and court fees of up to $10,000, losing his California driver's license, jail time and higher insurance rates.
