Two-Story Commercial Building, Town Homes Coming to Saratoga Village

Planners give SC Design Group the go-ahead to start building mixed-use project.

The Saratoga Planning Commission has given the green light to Jie Yao and Cupertino-based SC Design Group to build a two-story commercial building at 14639 Big Basin Way.

During its meeting Feb. 13, planners also gave the applicant permission to build on the site a four-car attached garage and two 1,451-square-foot town homes. The project is located in Saratoga Village's commercial historic zone.

It's not known yet what businesses will rent the 3,068-square-foot building once it's constructed, said Saratoga planner Michael Fossati.

The project was approved in July of 2012, but the property changed owners, said Fossati.

Staff has not received any comments from property owners near the project about its modifications, he added.

The project is in the entitlement stage. Construction has not yet begun, but SC Design Group has three years to apply for a building permit.

"It's pretty common to see this type of mixed-use project," Fossati said.

The project does not need Saratoga City Council approval, he added.
