Walgreens Robbery Suspect Shot Dead By Security Guard ID'd

The 38-year-old died after being shot at a San Jose store Monday night.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office has identified a possible robbery suspect who was fatally shot by a security guard at a San Jose Walgreens store on Monday night as 38-year-old Maurice Charles.

This incident took place at 5 S. First St. Officers reached the downtown location at 8:23 p.m.

The potential robbery suspect suffered from one gunshot wound after being shot by the store security guard, according to police. When police arrived, they assessed Charles' injuries and sent him to a hospital.

The medical examiner's office did not determine where Charles resided.

Police said on Tuesday that the security guard is cooperating with investigators. Police did not immediately release any other details about the case today.
