What Should Go Here?

The former Butter Paddle location, 14510 Big Basin Way, next to the Sereno Group, remains vacant even after the nonprofit gift shop moved to Los Gatos more than two years ago.

Butter Paddle's representatives have said they moved from Saratoga Village to downtown Los Gatos in October of 2010 hoping for more foot traffic, and that's exactly what they've received. However, the old Saratoga location remains empty.

Even without renovations, the building's exterior is attractive, with its green awning, cherry wood doors and large glass windows.

A sign next to its doors says it's being leased by Prime Commercial Incorporated and lists 408-879-4000 as the number to contact for inquiries. The sign also names Doug Ferrari and Dixie Divine as leasing agents.

PMI says on its website that the 1,782-square-foot space can be used for retail or restaurant. There are other suites also available at this location, which PMI calls Village Square. The former Butter Paddle location is identified as suite B and has a 509-square-foot mezzanine.

Why haven't the building owners been able to rent the space? What type of business would complement the rest of the shops in Saratoga Village?
