What to Expect From Tonight's Saratoga City Council Meeting

The Saratoga City Council will meet at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Civic Theatre/Council Chambers, 13777 Fruitvale Ave. The meeting will be streamed live on the city’s website. A copy of the agenda can be downloaded here.

Ceremonial items include:

• Adoption of a resolution appointing Renee Paquier and Cheryl Nelson Bailey to the Saratoga Parks and Recreation Commission. (Staff report)

On the consent agenda, which allows the five-member body to approve items with one vote, are:

• Approval of City Council minutes for two special meetings, and the regular meeting on Dec. 5, 2012 (Staff report)
• Review and accept check registers for the following accounts payment cycles: Dec. 5, 2012, Dec. 12, 2012 (Staff report)
• Accept the list of commission qualifications and terms expiring in the 2013 calendar year (Staff report)
• Approve a resolution declaring hazardous vegetation (weeds) as a public nuisance and setting a public hearing on Jan. 16, 2013 to consider objections to the Abatement List (Staff report)

Items on the new business portion of the agenda include:

• Provide direction to city staff members on the funding level for the Community Service Grant Program from the 2013-2014 budget and the allocation process for grants. (Staff report)
• Authorize the Public Works Department to move forward with repair and installation of city property that was damaged by the November 2012 storms. (Staff report)
•  Provide direction to city staff on the amount of funding for the Community Event Grant Program in the 2013-2014 budget. (Staff report)
