What to Expect From Tonight's Saratoga City Council Meeting

The Saratoga City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Civic Theatre/Council Chambers, 13777 Fruitvale Ave., to discuss the following:

Ceremonial items include:

• Commendations for outgoing City of Saratoga commissioners and appointment of new ones
• Presentation on Saratoga High School Marching Band being selected for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

On the consent agenda, which allows the five-member body to approve items with one vote, are:

• Ordinance amending City Code related to standards and procedures for city park use
• Historic landmark designation for 19161 Cox Ave.
• Highway 9 Safety Improvement Project phase 2, award of $887,690 construction contract to GradeTech Inc. of San Ramon
• Fiscal year 2012–13 Community Development Block Grant Santa Clara County/City of Saratoga contract and update
