A GoFundMe organized to help with funeral, memorial, and related expenses has already raised more than $7,800 toward a $10,000 goal, as friends and neighbors rally to ease the family's financial burden during their grief.
   

• Grape Escapes: The Deep(est) Dive on 2026 Harvest (wineindustryadvisor.com) — Wine lovers around Scotts Valley will want to know that Broken Top vineyard in town produced no Viognier at all this year, part of a broader pattern of sharply reduced yields across Santa Cruz Mountains vineyards. Growers describe an unusually early, light 2026 harvest with smaller clusters but promising quality, especially for certain Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Syrah, and Chenin Blanc sites from Corralitos to Arroyo Seco.
   

• MVC stuns Soquel in nonleague volleyball match (santacruzsentinel.com) — Scotts Valley athletes are in the thick of SCCAL play, with the Falcons volleyball team swept by Aptos but looking ahead to a road match at Mount Madonna. Scotts Valley's girls tennis squad notched a strong 6-1 win over Harbor and will travel to Aptos next week, while other league teams posted notable results in volleyball, cross country, golf, and tennis.
