Other facts

Fourth generation Santa Cruz County native, born and raised. I was at the Sentinel for 26 years as a reporter, city editor and editor before being elected to the California State Assembly in 1993. I served in the State Senate and as California's 30th Secretary of State, and want to continue serving my community as Santa Cruz County Supervisor.

The 5th District is a magnificent place and believe I can have a positive impact in the challenges the county will face in the future. The 5th District needs and deserves its fair share of county resources and I am going to fight for our fair share.
