Candles, Soap and Time Outdoors

Take your child to makes candles or soap, learn about summer day camp possibilities or explore nature.

Where/When: Harvey West Park-Friendship Garden, 326 Evergreen St. Santa Cruz. Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Why Go: This event was planned with the kids in mind. They have been holding this event for 21 years now, which is the best testimony of its success. There will be, of course, a rubber duck race, but also so much more. Your kids will thank you for taking them to Carnival in May!

"URINETOWN” THE MUSICAL AT SCOTTS VALLEY HIGH

Where/When: , 555 Glenwood Dr. Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m., Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Great musical, great story and this time those performing are our own Scotts Valley High School students. So enjoy some theater and let the kids know just how much we appreciate their effort.

Pricing: $12 general admission, $9 students and seniors.

Where/When: 218 Mt. Hermon Road. Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 

Why Go: Wix is where we go to make our own candles and soap. And we have probably taken our kids there plenty, already. This Saturday is a special day at Wix because if you come with your children to make a candle or soap, part of the sale gets donated to the American Cancer Society’s Scotts Valley Relay For Life. And yes, this is a chance for your little ones to make their mother's day gifts for mom and grandma.

Where/When: Santa Cruz Dance Company, 2800 Porter St., Soquel. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.; also at Pacific Motion in Santa Cruz.

Why Go: It's dance week throughout northern California, and the kids are not being forgotten. Free dance classes for children are being offered at Santa Cruz Dance Company and at Pacific Motion. Your kids can try out ballet, hip hop, jazz and more.

Where/When: , 3400 N. Main St., Soquel. Thursday, 6-8:00 p.m.

Why Go: You and your kids have a great opportunity to learn about summer camp opportunities and have dinner out. Steve and Kate's camp has a unique approach so it's worth your while to learn about it. Campers choose activities; parents buy days and use them anytime. And what's offered is everything from filmmaking, culinary arts and sewing to bungee jumping, bumper cars and basketball.
