Community Encouraged to Come Out For Mt. Charlie Festivities

Barbecue and bands will await the cyclists and community members.

The annual Mt. Charlie Challenge Pledge Ride will take place on Saturday, and though the cyclists will be out in force, it is also a community event with fun for the whole family.

The bike race will start at 8 a.m. from Skypark with the Scotts Valley High School Drum Line, featuring Ryan Snell, Jasper Lee and Jared Clark, providing rousing percussion music from 7:30-8 a.m. to get the festivities started.

The band, De Golden Koi, comprised of Zeph Rhoads, Chris Horchler, Jasper Lee and Alex Johnson, will perform covers of the Beatles, Radiohead and Earth, Wind & Fire, and other rock bands, from 11 a.m. to noon.

The community is also invited to a post-ride barbecue with skirt steak, chicken and veggie burgers served by the Scotts Valley Kiwanis Club.
