Community Gathering To Support Measure A

Community meeting brings support to Measure A in Scotts Valley

A meeting was held this evening at Bruno's Bar and Grill in Scotts Valley with numerous community leaders, educators, parents and students of the Scotts Valley Unified School District to show their support for Measure A, a parcel tax that will be in the upcoming elections in November.

The parcel tax of $108 over 5 years is needed to support many of the school programs maintaining core science, technology, engineering, math & art programs in all grades, maintaining reading and writing skills in all grades, keeping up with technology, and attracting and retaining highly qualified teachers, according to the measure's website at www.sossv.net.

The Scotts Valley Unified School District has been one of the lowest funded districts in the state while still maintaining admirable recognition and award winning schools, but it faces a shortfall should the measure that needs a 2/3 majority not pass.
