Community Input on Parcel Tax Wanted at Meeting

Board of trustees wants to hear from community Thursday night.

A community meeting will be held on Thursday to hear from the public and get input on a possible education parcel tax that the Scotts Valley Unified School District .

At the meeting, "Maintaining Excellence Through Possible Funding Initiatives," Superintendent Penny Weaver said in a recent letter that a panel of educators, parents, and District leaders will "share viewpoints on our theme of 'maintaining excellence' as we face the likelihood of catastrophic mid-year budget reductions. We will engage the audience with questions and answers regarding funding initiatives that include a possible education parcel tax measure. We will also identify programs and services that serve to maintain our excellence and will be subject to reduction or elimination due to a projected shortfall of $1.1 million in funding over the next two school years."
