SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — The Scotts Valley Police Department has a new team member who will be ready to tackle crime later this year, once training is complete. The rookie is named Odin—a Sable Shepherd who hails from the Czech Republic.

Odin will be partnered with Officer Jared Johnson and they are currently in their bonding period, according to the Scotts Valley PD. The team will begin training mid July, where they will work together on narcotics detection, tracking, handler protection and suspect apprehensions, the department explained.

On social media the department said, "We are very proud to introduce our newest team member at the Scotts Valley Police Department. We expect them to be hitting the streets as a well-trained dynamic duo around November."
