Driver Suffers Medical Emergency, Crashes Near Felton

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA – A person suffering from a medical emergency drove off a road and crashed into a tree north of Felton this morning, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.

Officers responded to a report of a crash on East Zayante and Quail Hollow roads shortly after 7:30 a.m., CHP Office Trista Drake said.

It appears the driver suffered a medical issue before crashing a truck with lumber racks into a ditch and tree, Drake said.

The Santa Cruz County coroner's office has been called to the scene, according to Drake.

The truck sustained minor damage, she said.

No other details were immediately available this morning.
