Elderly Man on Motor Scooter Struck by Tow Truck
Police said the truck driver did not see the man, who was riding the scooter north on Tuttle Avenue in Watsonville.

An elderly man was seriously injured Friday in Watsonville after the mobility scooter he was riding was struck by a flatbed tow truck.
Officers responded at 4:20 p.m. to the intersection of Tuttle and McKenzie avenues in response to a truck that struck an elderly man riding a mobility scooter.
Police said the driver of the truck did not see the pedestrian, who was riding the scooter north on Tuttle Avenue.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries to his head in the collision and was airlifted to a trauma center. As of this morning, he was listed in serious but stable condition, police said.
The driver of truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police said it does not appear drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
A fire hydrant was also damaged during the collision and had to be repaired by city personnel.
