The undefeated Scotts Valley Falcons lacrosse team continue to climb as they soared past a young Soquel Knights team on Friday night in a wet, wild and windy game.
Scotts Valley stormed out of the gate to score 11 goals in the first quarter, Soquel could only manage two against a tough Falcon defense. The second quarter was pretty much the same as the first. Everything was flowing well and the Falcons poured in six unanswered goals to end the first half 17-2 for the Falcons.

The storm continued into the second half, the Falcons controlled the center part of the field and time of possession. All the lines of midfielders were getting in on the action and kept the ball and the offense moving. Four more Falcon goals in the second half brought the final tally to 21-2.
With an amazing outing, Spencer "the Finisher" Fogelquist had eight scoring shots and added two assists. "Mr. Smooth" Wesley Koenig makes it look easy, gliding through the middle and always being in the right spot. He took six shots scoring on four of them and added three assists. Once the ball is in his stick, good things happen. As always, the power forward of the team, Collin Corbella, could not be stopped tonight. Neither the rain or the defense could slow him down. Collin had five successful drives to the goal pounding in five goals and one assist.

Scotts Valley midfields had plenty of energy running up and down the rain soaked field. The Falcon midfielders were led by quick dodging Jake Rehnberg, who scored twice and won most of his faceoffs. Stepping up again, Kevin Niemeyer could be counted on for a goal and two assists. Also Mitchell Curtiss continued to add to his stats with a goal and two assists.
The Falcon defensive unit shut down the Knights attack for the majority of the game. Defensive leaders, Scott Hunter and Cole Deblock gobbled up ground balls and led the charge up field. Adding to the defensive strength, Callum Percy and Pat Marigonda contributed with ground balls and smart play. Falcon goalie, Chris Martin, stopped almost everything that came his way, totaling 10 saves for the game. Martin and the defense made some great passes, ensuring that the ball didn't stay in the defensive end very long.
