Get Out in Scotts Valley

Where/When: , 400 Beach St., Santa Cruz. Friday, 6:30-8:30 p.m. 

Why Go: If you are a child of the 60s, you will remember the Family Stone. And if you aren't, you have probably heard and danced to their music anyway. So take this opportunity to hear The Family Stone live and in person.

Where/When: Skypark, 361 Kings Village Rd. Monday, 3-10 p.m.

Why Go: Need you ask? Celebrate the Fourth of July holiday with friends and neighbors right here at home in Scotts Valley. See the parade first along Scotts Valley Drive; then head to Skypark where the gates will open at 3 p.m. A bounce house for the kids; live music for you and plenty of food for purchase. Fireworks at 9:15 p.m.

Pricing: $6 in advance; $8 at the gate; children under 4 are free.

Where/When: , 360 Kings Village Rd. Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon

Why Go: It's a long weekend and you have a little extra time, so why not do your shopping for the Fourth of July picnics and barbeques at our own farmers market. Stack up on the watermelon and other organic fruits, vegetables and more. You can find the best of the best from our local growers and producers here. 

Pricing: Whatever you buy.

Where/When: , 4402 Scotts Valley Dr. Thursday, 5-9 p.m. 

Why Go: It’s a fun way to get together with friends and get an early start to your weekend. The fiesta begins right when you get off work. There are dollar tacos and drink specials. Enjoy!

Where/When: Harvey West Park, 326 Evergreen St., Santa Cruz. Sunday, 7 a.m.

Why Go: This free family footrace is a Fourth of July holiday gift. The Firecracker will get your celebration off to a good start before the beer and barbeque set in. The 10K part of the race will take you on a scenic run through the Pogonip. There is a 1K race option for the children, too. Registration is at 7 a.m. The kids’ race starts at 8 a.m. and the 10K begins at 8:30 a.m.
