Crab Cioppino Feed

Where/When: Santa Cruz Portuguese Hall, 216 Evergreen St., Santa Cruz. Saturday, 6:30 p.m.

What: The Scotts Valley Host Lions Club is hosting an all-you-can-eat crab cioppino dinner. The event will also include dancing with music provided by the Billy Martini Band 70s Review.

Where/When: Olivet University Williams Theater, 800 Bethany Dr. Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

What: Scotts Valley Performing Arts is presenting its sixth annual Broadway Cabaret fundraiser. The event, a one-night variety show, will showcase the talents of many local singers and actors. The money raised will be used to stage SVPA’s productions throughout the year.

Price: Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and students, and can be purchased at the door or at www.svpaa.org.

Where/When: , 230 Mt. Hermon Rd. Sunday, 1 p.m.

What: The American Cancer Society’s Scotts Valley Relay For Life event kicks off. The Relay is a 24-hour, walking, family-friendly event which will be held May 19 and 20. The Kick-Off will have music, food, a raffle and a cake walk! Everyone is welcome to the event to find out what the Relay is all about. Cancer survivors will be guests of honor at the event. You can also sign up a team, register as a survivor for your free t-shirt and lunch, or look into sponsor opportunities!

Big Basin Redwoods State Park Hikes

Where/When: Big Basin Redwoods State Park, 21600 Big Basin Way, Boulder Creek. Redwood Loop Walk, every Saturday and Sunday at noon. Ramble Sunday, March 4, 1 p.m.

What: The park offers several organized, docent-led hikes. The Redwood Loop Walk is a fun, informative guided half-mile stroll through a magnificent old-growth redwood forest. Meet the famous Mother Tree, the Father of the Forest and the incredible Chimney Tree on this one-hour walk. On the Ramble Sunday hike, participants will explore the natural history of one of the park’s less-visited trails with docent Doreen Devorah on a three-hour, 2.5-mile hike up and down the “creeping” terrain, along creeks, through fire-scarred redwoods and over log bridges. Hikers should meet at the Park Headquarters for both hikes. The hikes will be canceled in the event of rain.
