What: The Scotts Valley Exchange Club is sponsoring its annual talent show and is looking for great local talent. Children ages 4-18 are encouraged to participate. The winner of each section (primary, junior and secondary) will go on to the regional competition, and those winners will go on to the finals in the Palm Springs area. Big Basin Redwood State Park Events
Where/When: Big Basin, 21600 Big Basin Way, Boulder Creek. Ocean View Summit Hike, Saturday, 10 a.m.; Berry Creek Falls Hike, Sunday, 9:30 a.m.
What: The state park is hosting two really cool events this weekend. The Ocean View Summit Hike is a six-mile, four-hour trek through mountain streams, oak woodlands, chaparral and redwoods. Led by docent David Auerbach, it is one of the park’s most diverse hikes and ends with ocean views. Participants should bring water, lunch and good hiking shoes, and meet at the park’s headquarters.

The Berry Creek Falls Hike will take participants deep into the heart of the park to experience a wide range of habitats. Docent Bill Rhoades will lead this moderate to strenuous 11-mile, seven-hour hike that will wind through shady redwood canyons and climb dry ridges as participants hike to the jewel of Big Basin—65-foot Berry Creek Falls. Participants should bring water, lunch, wear layers, and meet at the park’s headquarters.

"In My Life" Gallery Exhibition
Where/When: , 9341 Mill St., Ben Lomond. Now through June 23, Wednesdays through Sundays, noon-6 p.m.
What: Over 30 local, talented artists are participating in this exhibit, presenting a diverse array of artwork depicting “In My Life.”
Price: Free
Where/When: City of Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Rd. Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Why Go: The weekly open-air market includes fresh organic fruit, vegetables, flowers, coffee and pastries, seafood, meat and eggs, showcasing the best in fresh-grown fruits and vegetables and local foods. Come out and shop and mingle with your fellow residents.
