How to Apply for the Parcel Tax Exemption
Seniors and the disabled qualify for the exemption but must file by Aug. 1.

On June 6, Scotts Valley voters that will bring in approximately $350,000 annually to cash-strapped Scotts Valley schools. The tax, which passed with 76 percent of the vote, will last for three years and will add $48 a year to property tax bills through June 2015.
The measure went into effect July 1 but those seeking an exemption have until Aug. 1 to turn in their forms. To qualify for the exemption, property owners must either be 65 years or older, receiving Supplemental Security Disability Income, or have contiguous parcels treated as a “single parcel,” in which case, the tax need to only be paid for one parcel.
