Gripenstraw’s ‘Endangered Species’ collection was commissioned as a result of an endowment by Dorothy Hale and will be a permanent installation at the library. The collection includes sculptures of endangered animals such as a snow leopard, Asiatic cheetah and African dog, and was chosen to complement the new, contemporary library with high ceilings and bright colors.

“We invite everyone to celebrate the birthday of our wonderful library, and view this extraordinary ‘Endangered Species’ collection,” said Elizabeth Walch, president of the Friends of the Scotts Valley Library. “Our has been embraced by the local community and this collection is unique, beautiful and educational.”
