Meet Michael Leimbach
Resident and counselor Michael Leimbach works with SV High School students, funded by the Scotts Valley Rotary Club. His personal story serves as an inspiration to all.
Scotts Valley Patch: What is your occupation?
Michael Leimbach: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I also work with and support students and families by providing general counseling services two days a week at Scotts Valley High School.

Patch: How long have you lived in Scotts Valley?
Leimbach: 35 years.
Patch: What brought you to the area?
Leimbach: My parents decided to move here from the San Jose area in 1976.
Patch: What is something you are known for?
Leimbach: A paralyzing football accident in high school here in Santa Cruz in 1983.
Patch: What is your latest project?
Leimbach: Finding space to start a private clinical practice.
Patch: Book you last read?
Leimbach: Well, I don’t read much unless it has to do with work so it would have been something related to that.
Patch: Newspaper or magazine you read regularly?
Leimbach: See above!
Patch: Movie you could watch again and again?
Leimbach: Wedding Crashers, Big Blue, Good Will Hunting.
Patch: Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Leimbach: To be outdoors in the sun with a variety of music in my ears or out doing things with friends and family.
Patch: What is one of your most gratifying accomplishments?
Leimbach: Raising funds for the Spinal Cord Society, furthering the work to develop a treatment to cure paralysis.
Patch: What is your greatest indulgence?
Leimbach: Dark chocolate, small-time wagering, and shiny, high-tech things!
Patch: One of your most memorable vacations?
Leimbach: Every trip to the warm, beautiful Hawaiian Islands.
Patch: What is a goal you are chasing after?
Leimbach: To lead a balanced, productive, and physically and mentally healthy life.
Patch: What do you like most about life in Scotts Valley?
Leimbach: The landscape, familiarity, people, calmness, and the central location to other cities. It feels far away from it all but it’s only minutes from everything I want or need.
