Monterey Coast Preparatory Middle And High School To Close
The private school cited "declining enrollment combined with the increasing cost of living" as reasons behind the impending closure.

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — After nine years in Santa Cruz County, the Monterey Coast Preparatory Middle and High School will close in June, school officials said. The school announced the closure in an email sent to families at the beginning of January.
The school said it is facing the same challenge as other Bay Area private schools citing “declining enrollment combined with the increasing cost of living,” which has proved to be impossible to overcome despite planning and a reduced operating budget. The school operates on tuition revenues alone, according to the letter.
The school currently has 28 students, seven of whom will graduate this year. They have four full-time staff members, and four part-time employees.
