New Art Exhibit to Open at SV Library

'Go Figure' collection goes on display on June 2.

The popular “Art in the Library” program at the Scotts Valley Library will feature a new installation beginning on June 2.

The new summer installation, “Go Figure,” will showcase figurative art, “a term that typically refers to any form of modern art that retains strong references to the real world.” The collection will be on display throughout the library during normal business hours.

The “Art in the Library” program was developed by the Friends of the Scotts Valley Library to give local artists a place to display their work and to bring the joy of art to area residents.

The Friends are hoping that their goal of showcasing different art in the library will help people in the community learn to appreciate art, and to get them inspired.

“In just its first few months, our ‘Art in the Library’ collections have showcased abstract art, endangered species and student art from the IB Art program at Scotts Valley High School–we truly offer something for everyone,” said Elizabeth Walch, president of the Friends of the Library – Scotts Valley Chapter. “I urge everyone to visit the library and see the amazing talent of our local artist community.”
