New Studio Offers Fitness in a Different Light

Former competitive skier Nicole Gaitan opens new fitness studio in Scotts Valley.

Nicole Gaitan knows a thing or two about fitness. As a competitive downhill skier, it was her life for a very long time. And now she is bringing all of her knowledge to Scotts Valley.

On May 15, , with Gaitan at the helm, held its grand opening at its new studio on Camp Evers Lane.

“As a new resident of Scotts Valley, I'm ecstatic. This place is awesome,” Gaitan said. “Everyone is so family oriented, active and genuine. I couldn't imagine opening my business in any other location."

And she plans to do it in a unique way.

“I want it to be different and boutiquey, something that you want to come to,” Gaitan said. “I want something that you walk into and feel comfortable, kind of like a nurturing environment.”

Gaitan wants her studio to be a place where people can stay and hang out for a bit with a cup of tea after their workout.

“After a hard workout, you are kind of spaced out and it’s good to sit and relax,” Gaitan said. “And people have already started doing that here.”

But the studio isn’t just about relaxing, that comes later. The fitness classes and personal training that Gaitan offers is what she is hoping will bring people in.

“I don’t have a lot of heavy equipment,” she said. “I like to use the body weight and a lot of functional training materials, like TRX [suspension training]. I also bring a lot of workout techniques that we used in my ski workouts.”

Along with the one on one personal training that Gaitan tailors to each person, One to One offers classes like Hot Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Cardio Pilates, Zumba, and a unique class created by Gaitan, Tri-Fit, that is a total body workout combining cardio, strength and yoga training.

For those on the go, Gaitan has also created a 30-minute lunchtime workout and she hopes to eventually offer a healthy lunch to go along with it.

One to One also offers an outdoor boot camp and nutritional consulting.

With all that Gaitan is bringing to her new studio, she is sure to live up to her mission of helping “you experience health and fitness in a different light.”

If you would like to try a class by Gaitan, May 29 is a good opportunity. One to One will be holding a 75-minute fitness class to raise money for Bryan Stow. The cost is $15 and the class is at the One to One studio, 7 Camp Evers Lane at 10 a.m.
