Pair From Watsonville, Santa Cruz Arrested For Multiple Offenses

Police said the two men have street-gang connections.

WATSONVILLE, CA - Deputies arrested two 28-year-old men on Wednesday evening in Watsonville on suspicion of weapons and gang-related offenses, sheriff’s officials said today.

Deputies arrested Michael Schwartz of Watsonville and Manuel Solorsano of Santa Cruz around 7:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Marin Street after deputies stopped the truck the two were in for code violations.

Solorsano was on probation for possessing a gun and under the terms of his probation deputies had the right to search the truck, according to sheriff’s officials. Inside the truck, deputies found a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a .357-caliber revolver.

Deputies also allege that both men were members of a criminal street gang.

Solorsano and Schwartz were arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, failing to be the registered owner of the weapons, carrying a concealed weapon while in a gang, participating in a gang and promoting a gang. Solorsano was also arrested on suspicion of probation violation.

Both were taken to the county jail.
