Patch Picks: Cinco de Mayo Celebrations

This week, Patch showcases some of the area's most exciting Cinco de Mayo festivities.

1. Malone’s Grille, 4402 Scotts Valley Dr., is hosting their annual Cuatro de Mayo Festival. In addition to margarita specials, carnitas and fish tacos and guacamole and chips, they will offer 12 different tequilas available for tasting. 2. The Crow’s Nest, 2218 East Cliff Dr. in Santa Cruz is having a Cinco de Mayo Dance Party extravaganza. There will be live music starting at 8:30 p.m. featuring one of the area’s favorite bands, Broken English, all for only a $5 cover charge. 3. Come celebrate at the Davenport Roadhouse Inn, 150 Church St., in Davenport as they hold their annual Davenport Cinco de Mayo Festival. They will feature lively mariachi music and home-cooked Mexican food. There will also be an expanded children’s carnival area, a silent auction offering a two night’s stay at Coastanoa Resort and a raffle with a grand prize of a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The festivities kick off at 11:30 a.m. and go until 4:30 p.m. This is a fundraiser event supporting the Davenport Resource Service Center’s programs for low-income, North Coast residents. 4. The Cypress Lounge, 120 Union St., in Santa Cruz, presents Cinco de Mayo Fiesta Night. This year the party will be held on Saturday, May 7. This event is for those 21 and over. For a $10 cover charge, enjoy the jams of DJ Carlitos from San Francisco and party the night away with this Latin dance party hot spot. 5. Take the family and head to Watsonville for the Cinco de Mayo Celebration to be held in the downtown plaza at Main and Peck Streets. This is a free cultural event with traditional Mexican food and live entertainment.
