Potential PG&E Power Shut Off This Week

Find out what's happening in Scotts Valleyfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We want to inform you that we were notified last night that PG&E is planning another power shut off this week. Originally, the PG&E map showed the affected areas to be north of SF for the coastal area, however, it now appears the same affected areas as before are included (SVHS, Vine Hill, and Brook Knoll).

This morning, Tuesday, November 19, 2019, the district experienced an Internet outage that had nothing to do with the PG&E situation (that we know of). The high-speed network that our County Office of Education is linked to went out across the Bay Area so all schools in the county were without internet for a bit.

The PG&E power shut off is apparently scheduled to initiate Wednesday, November 20th, and may go through Thursday. At this point, we plan to hold school as we have the same situation set up as before: generators, sanitation, phones, food, etc. Also, the sun is out but the mornings are chilly, so please keep that in mind.

We will communicate with you if the situation changes.

While we recognize that we have a holiday week coming up, we want to emphasize the significance of positive student attendance. Please make an effort to send students to school as this is an important week. Let’s make every day count!

We are hopeful to make it through this week with minimal impact and be able to relax and enjoy the entire week off next week! As always, thank you for your support and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Tanya Krause
