John Hohmann "has passionately served on the LETR Executive Committee for many years — currently as the Assistant State Director — and his one-of-a-kind spirit and enthusiasm for the cause recently earned him the prestigious John Carion 'Unsung Hero' Award from the Law Enforcement Torch Run international organization, which is given to the few who go above and beyond in creating an impact," according to the announcement from the Special Olympics Northern California.
Over the years, Hohmann has played a vital role in organizing the Santa Cruz Polar Plunge and is also a dedicated Special Olympics coach, training athletes in Unified Flag Football, the announcement said.
