The design is a lot like a skateboard with an added footbrake and handlebars.

With a scooter, you get the best of both worlds, it’s a cross between a BMX bike and skateboard.

Scotts Valley Cycle Sport has just started selling the popular ride.

“It’s a new thing for us,” owner Andrew Cavaletto said. “So many kids have asked me about trick scooters, so I decided to carry them in the bike store.”

Andrew and his staff did some intensive research and listened to what the local kids were looking for.  Cycle Sport now sells Madd Gear brand scooters and will eventually carry different brands to meet the popular demand.

“A good scooter will stand up to the thrashing of the standard rider and will range in price from $160 up to $400,” Cavaletto said.

Cycle Sport will also carry parts and accessories to support the local scooter enthusiasts.
