Scotts Valley City Election Update - Who's In
The three incumbent council members who filed have been reappointed to their seats for lack of other contenders.

The three Scotts Valley City Council incumbents who filed papers to run for reelection have been appointed to the positions in lieu of an election by the Santa Cruz County Elections Department.
Because no one else filed papers to run in November and challenge the incumbents, they are automatically reappointed to the positions according to the County Elections Department.
The incumbents are Mayor Donna Lind, a former Scotts Valley Police Officer who will be serving her second term; Vice-Mayor Randy Johnson, who has been on the council since 1996 and will be serving his fifth term; and Dene Bustichi, a Scotts Valley native and owner of a local construction company who will be serving his third term.

In the Scotts Valley Unified School District Board race, three seats are open. Two of the incumbents, Sue Roth and Michael Shulman have filed papers to run. The third incumbent, Larry Beaman did not file papers. Beaman is running for California State Senate.
Because one of the incumbent did not file in the SVUSD race by the Aug. 10 deadline, the new deadline to file has been extended to Aug. 15 at 5 p.m. for anyone other than the incumbent to file.
