Scotts Valley Firefighter Helps Raise $1,458 For Burn Victims

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — A Scotts Valley firefighter/paramedic who organized a first annual corn hole tournament to benefit burn victims raised $1,458 for the cause. Josh Nehf put together Saturday's event at Siltanen Park in conjunction with the San Jose Firefighters Burn Foundation.

"With 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to burn survivors, we are humbled and honored to be a part of this inaugural event," the San Jose Firefighters Burn Foundation said on social media. "The event had participation from recruits, probationary firefighters, paramedics, engineers, captains, battalion chiefs and chiefs, active, retirees, girlfriends, wives, husbands, children and grandchildren."

The San Jose Firefighters Burn Foundation is an all-volunteer organization of firefighters who work to support people affected by fire, and officials with agencies from across the region turned out for Saturday's fundraiser that saw the first-place trophy go to Boulder Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
