Scotts Valley Police Make Late-Night Drug Busts

In both cases, the suspects were pulled over by police for traffic violations and drugs were found.

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — Scotts Valley police officers working the graveyard shift made back-to-back drug-related arrests this week, including two people accused of felonies who were out of jail on bond, the SVPD reported.

Anthony Alvarez, 34, of Watsonville, and Camielle Johnson, 28, of Santa Cruz were picked up around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday after officers stopped them for not having license plates on their vehicle, according to the SVPD. They were found with a "a large quantity of methamphetamine — over 80 grams — and a sizable amount of heroin," the SVPD reported. Ecstasy, Xanax, a digital scale and packaging materials were also found, police said.

Alvarez and Johnson were arrested for committing a felony while out on bond, possession of methamphetamine and heroin for sale, conspiracy, and possession of pills without a prescription, police said.

Another arrest came earlier Wednesday morning. Michael Hrica, 51, of Santa Cruz was pulled over around 1 a.m. for expired registration tags and was found with multiple quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, as well as heroin and concentrated cannabis, police said. Along with the illegal drugs, nine cell phones were found, according to police. The discovery in Hrica's truck was made by the department's police dog, Atlas, the SVPD reported.

Hrica was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and cocaine for sale and was booked into county jail.
