Second Brush Fire Erupts In Santa Cruz County

The Lockhart Fire was stopped after growing to 5 to 8 acres.

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA --Firefighters have contained a new wildland fire in the area of Lockhart Gulch in Scotts Valley, Cal Fire said on social media.

The Lockhart Fire was stopped after growing to 5 to 8 acres, the fire agency said shortly after 1 p.m. Crews will be mopping up this afternoon.

No structures were threatened, according to the Scotts Valley Police Department.

Cal Fire is also working to extinguish the Rincon Fire in Santa Cruz County that has closed state Highway 9 in both directions. That fire is about 6 acres.
