- The big issue the council will be discussing is whether or not to allow scooters at the skatepark. This is an issue that came to a head over the holidays after many local kids received scooters for Christmas and began using them at the skatepark in Skypark. Currently, scooters are not one of the four types of equipment allowed at the skatepark. The council will discuss the issue of “compatibility of skateboard and scooter use of the skateboard park.” At a Jan. 19 parks and recreation commission meeting, . Skateboarders at that meeting said that they feel it is dangerous to have the younger inexperienced scooter riders in the park. Scooter riders said they felt the park should be for the use of everyone. The council will discuss whether or not to change the city ordinance to allow scooters equal access to the park.
