What to Expect From Tonight's School Board Meeting

The Board will discuss nutritional services at Tuesday's meeting.

The Scotts Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, One Civic Center Dr. The board is expected to consider the following items:

  • The Board will hold a public hearing to review and consider the adoption of a report entitled “Residential Development School Fee Justification Study.” The public will be allowed to comment before the Board votes on the issue. The Residential Development School Fee Justification Study determines the extent to which a nexus can be established in the Scotts Valley Unified School District between residential development and the need for school facilities, the cost of the facilities and the amount of statutory school fees per residential building square foot that may be levied for schools.
  • The Board will receive information for the review of the 2011-12 second interim report that is required by the Santa Cruz County Office of Education to determine if the district meets the Standards and Criteria for fiscal stability.
  • The Board will accept information on the 2012-13 Special Revenue Funds Budgets. A fund is a fiscal and accounting entity with a self-balancing set of accounting recording financial resources and liabilities. Each fund is established to carry on specific activities or to attain certain objectives of a school district.
  • The Board will discuss approving a Memorandum of Understanding with the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District to extend the agreement to share the administrative and operational responsibilities and costs of nutritional services.

The district’s next board of trustees meeting will be at 6 p.m. May 22.
