What to Expect From Tonight's School Board Meeting
Trustees will discuss the possible education parcel tax.

The Scotts Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, One Civic Center Dr. The board is expected to consider the following items:
- The Board will review a draft resolution proposing an educational parcel tax measure. The Board is considering putting the measure on a May or June Ballot. At the last meeting on Dec. 13, the Board voted to hire a polling company to gauge the community’s opinion on aspects of the tax and what they would be willing to vote for. The Board will hear an update on the progress of the poll.
- Scotts Valley High School principal Valerie Bariteau and International Baccalaureate program coordinator Dave Crawford will present an informative report on the program to the Board. The IB program at SVHS has become a signature program. It is a “demanding pre-university course of study that leads to examinations, and it is designed for highly motivated high school juniors and seniors.” The program’s expense and revenue data will be reported.
The district’s next board of trustees meeting will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 24.
