Why Go: Paul Rudnick wrote this play and it sounds like an absolute joy. Here is the plot line quickly as provided by the folks at Mountain Community Theater:  When a TV actor from Los Angeles starts regretting his decision to play Hamlet on the New York stage, the ghost of John Barrymore—the greatest Hamlet ever —suddenly appears to guide him to glory. Barrymore teaches him about not only the great play itself, but also swordplay, wordplay, and foreplay.

Pricing: $20; $16 seniors

Where/When: , 307 Church St., Santa Cruz. Saturday, 8 p.m.

Pricing: $18 to $65

Where/When: Rancho del Oso, 3600 Highway 1, Davenport. Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.
