Zero Motorcycles Lands State Grant

A state grant will help a Scotts Valley company ramp up production, according to the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.

Zero Motorcycles received a $1.8 million from California Energy Commission awarded, part of more than $20 million doled out statewide to companies focused on clean transportation projects.

Zero Motorcycles is expected to quadruple its electric motorcycle production and develop new prototypes, the business journal reported.

The expansion will be in Scotts Valley, Jay Friedland, Zero’s vice president of strategy and sustainability, told the Scotts Valley Press Banner. He also said the company likely will add about a dozen new employees to its payroll, which currently stands at 80 employees.

The grant was awarded Oct. 10.
